Ready to buy a hard drive?

Need a new Hard drive?

Internal vs External Hard drives and what to get:

When Selecting a new hard drive for your current computer there are a

few things to take into consideration such as:

a) How much space do I need?
b) Is it a SATA or IDE hard drive or the newest Solid State?
c) Do I need a new drive to back up my system (redundancy) or is it
storage for movies, documents, and games.
d) How much do I want to spend?

The internal hard drives can be IDE which uses a 40 pin cable. They are
3.5" for Regular computers or 2.5" for laptops.
SATA Drives uses one 8 pin cable. These are the replacements for IDE Drives.
They take less room and are substantially faster. From their conception
they have increased in speed (transfer) from 1.5 GB/s to 6.0GB/s for the
faster devices.

The newest kid in the block is the SSD drives. They are called Solid
State Hard drives because they have no moving parts. There are no
platters unlike its predecessors and its silent. I am keeping an
eye out for the prices to come down a bit and for these drives to become
more main stream and bigger in size. Nonethess they could be great to have your main operating system on it and a secondary/external drive to host your important files.
Take into consideration the type or style of pin connector on the hard drive before making a purchase in order to avoid delays and reorders.

Next, decide if speed is required for gaming, movies editing. If so, then get a hard drive that is 7200rpm or better. For storage 5400rpm would be ok to use. Bear in mind that the faster the drive the more expensive they will be.

Dont forget to check the reviews on the hard drives before purchase to become aware of any issues with them and to avoid the ones that could cause headaches down the road.

We would like to provide users with free lessons online.

We are looking foward for a couple of users that want to learn how to use their computers in a better faction. Or learn how to do certain things that they hear people say but dont know how to actually do them themselves. If you are interested in this please let us know.

Time for a new computer?

Some users want to know if they need a new comptuer. . I would say it's a personal question, meaning that if you only brose the internet and check emails then maybe all you need to do is update/upgrade your current computer. I ussually ask them , what are their computer specifications, meaning their Ghz and ram ammount. I feel that if your computer is a desktop Pentium 4 with around 1.8 Ghz , with about 512 of ram, and all you do is chat, email, internet, then No you dont need to upgrade. I would just suggest adding 1gb of memory to speed up some proccess. Now if you have a machine that is 800mhz and 256 of ram, and you running xp. I would say go for it, buy a simple dell or other brand, for aroudn 300-400 US dollars. I my self, love doing a lot of random things online, such as having multiple webpages up, watching youtube videos, playing my itunes play list, and sometimes i might even play a game or two. My computer is a dual2 core with 1gb of memory, and to be honest it does the job. I wish i had a monster computer, but its not needed.

The purpose of this article is to help those users debating wheather to upgrade to a new computer or not. I would recomend, doing a Clean windows install, so start fresh like when the computer came from the factorey (retail store) and it was extra fast and cool. I will talk more about that in the future, for now i will leave it here, if you got any more questions let us know.

Clean Up Internet Explorer Suggestion

Many home computers users have Internet explorer as a default browser. One of the things that can be done to prevent it from accumulating too much stuff is to clean the Temporary Internet Folder. (note: If this process has not been completed before it can take a while.

Now lets get started.

Go to: Internet Explorer.
Click on Tools, Internet Options,
Under "Temporary Internet Files", click on Delete Cookies, then, Delete Files.
Click on Settings and change the recycle bin size to about 10 mb. For me it was 1788MB (1.7Gb).
Click OK then also clean the cookies folder. When you are done with this you can exit the Internet Explorer options.

Computer clean up

Over time your computer acumulates Dust and debree from your house and dayly use. I recomend you guys try to get a can of compress air and whipe all that dust away. Since it really makes your hardware hotter than it should be. My laptop Video card burnt that way playing too much BF2, and now i take that precaution with my computers. Just a tip from Remote desktops :)

Spyware and viruses can make your computer run slow

I have noticed that most of the users that i have helped at my job, have some sort of spy ware or malware or virus program on their computer. Believe it or not is very easy to get them on your computer. You have to take matters into your own hands to be able to get rid of them to improve your internet safety (personal information) and your computer performance (speed). One way you can do this is by stop using internet explorer and use something like firefox. Once you do this, lets start by cleaning up some of the stuff you have been accumulating on your computer, such as internet history, programs you no longer use, programs you delete and are still inside your computer, spam, files your computer doesn't use and registry that has been outdated. I use CCleaner to clean up my computer, its free and i recommend it. Once you have cleaned up your computer, you can start the spyware/virus cleaning. You can start with the spyware, by downloading ad-aware which is also free, and will clean up your system. After it fully scans your computer and you delete the malware, you should restart your computer, and then download Avira which is the best FREE virus scanner i know. This will wipe any virus from your computer, its great because its updated weekly. Once you are done, with the clean up, and deleted all that baggage that was keeping you from enjoying your computer, you can now download COMODO firewall .
Comodo firewall is a great firewall that will keep anything from accessing your computer without your consent, it also stops any program that wants to install on your computer as well. All these programs are free so you have no excuse to not protect your self against malicious programs that are out there

If you had problems with any of the programs above, shoot me an email at remotedesktops@gmail.com and i can help you set them up or walk you thru the problem you are having.

Thanks for the Emails

I have Received a couple of Emails already, wow 2 days open :) . I was able to get back at the users, since i am off today. If you have any questions or need help, feel free to shoot me an email at remotedesktops@gmail.com

Help with Games

If you are having any issues playing any Computer video games.problems such as the game wont start; or the game starts but all you hear is sound; or the game is freezing, i would be happy to suggest and help you get the game running. Most problems are that the video card drivers are outdated or that your need to update your directx drivers. You can get the Directx drivers from the Microsoft site (or you can google directx) and it will be the 2Nd result. If you feel confused or need any help, just write a comment or send me an email.
